Our client is Europe’s longest-established and largest producer of paper and board laminates for the packaging of consumer goods. With over 80 years experience supplying to premium sectors such as fine spirits, tobacco, confectionary and beauty, they are committed to the highest standards of quality and technical excellence, innovation and supply chain efficiency.

They are currently looking for a three shift multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer with a mechanical bias. Working as part of a small dedicated team, the person appointed will have served an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering and must be an experienced fully qualified Mechanical Engineer with a good understanding of electrical maintenance.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in the paper, packaging and/or printing industry and of high speed rotating machines, must demonstrate good bench work skills, and have a good working knowledge of tension control systems, thermal oils systems and solvents storage and use. Whilst primarily mechanical, some fault finding skill on electrical motors, control equipment and systems is required. Safety focussed; the successful candidate will ideally have the ability to work to a high standard, deliver on time whilst meeting demanding deadlines.

Whilst working hours are based on a rotating three shift system, a flexible approach will be required, in order to provide effective support to a 24 hour manufacturing operation.

This Mechanical Project Engineer researches, designs, and develops a variety of components in line with specifications, design, development and production of satellite antenna systems, including text fixtures and production equipment with an eye towards commercial manufacture. The individual will work with a variety of suppliers to integrate and optimize product offerings.

You will have:

• BEng / BSc in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• Minimum of 5-7 years of work experience involving the use of Mechanical Engineering principles and practices in design in satellite systems, RF design, RF electronics
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes including plastic moulding, die casting and stamping
• Selection of materials including thermoplastic and thermo-set materials, steels and non-ferrous materials

• Experience of prototyping techniques
• Stress analysis using FEA and hand calculations. Experience with Ansys Workbench preferable

Reporting into the Regional Property Delivery Manager, responsibilities will include:-

Required knowledge & experience:-

·Qualified to HNC level in Building, electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience

·Working knowledge of current building policies and practices including Health & Safety at Work Act, Building Regulations, Party Wall Act, Workplace Regulations, CDM and British and European Standards

·Knowledge of IT packages/applications to produce reports and presentations containing complex data and information

·Background in Building, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with prior experience of project delivery

·Practical knowledge of management of CDM projects across a variety of work types

·Practical knowledge of project management.

·Teamwork and contractor management experience

·Previous building surveyor experience

·Prior project management experience working on planned works programmes

·Collaboration with contractor and supplier teams

·Working experience in the care and rented / leasehold housing sector - desirable

Required skills:-
