Our client is a growing business providing handling and fulfilment services at the logistics/3PL end of the marketing services industry. The business is 25 years old and uses a range of bespoke IT systems to support both internal operating requirements (WMS, despatch, etc.) and client-specific web-based systems for order processing and query management.

Over the past four or five years the business has shifted increasingly into a data-driven on-line environment and our systems are in need of continuing investment for both maintenance and development purposes.

The current team consists of a small and highly motivated team of 10 IT staff looking after both infrastructure/desk-top support (3) as well as system development (7).

Job Role:

This vacancy has been created by the maternity leave of one of our clients . Net developers. Strictly speaking the role is to provide maternity cover for one year. That notwithstanding, as a result of continuing development in the business, we believe that this will be a full-time opportunity here for the right candidate.

The candidate will work with our existing team, under the direct line management of a Board member, but working with the guidance of our experienced in-house lead developers (one in Bedford and one in Norfolk).

The role will involve:

* the development of client-specific requirements as add-ons to our existing suite of client
* . net applications
* the development of continuing enhancements for our internal systems
* the maintenance of the 'business as usual' systems - resolving queries and making changes to existing work

The job-holder will be expected to learn to work as part of a busy team, developing their own ability to multi-task and handle time management and priorities which can sometimes conflict.

Key Skills and Attributes:

Ideally we are looking for an individual educated to degree level or equivalent with about 2 years commercial experience working as a . NET Developer.

The candidate must have of the core requirements of the role in terms of:

* sound working knowledge of ASP . Net using C #
* HTML, CSS
* database design in SQL Server.

It would be useful, although not essential if they also have used:

A Programmer is required to join a hi-growth, UK based software house specialising in enterprise solutions for the global insurance industry. Based in Winchester, Hants, they employ over 100 staff located in three separate sites, the most recent being in Krakow, Poland. They are currently recruiting for a Technical Underwriting Programmer to join their busy programming team and welcome applicants with 2+ years experience to apply.

The role is based at their Milton Keynes office which is set in a good location and offers a fantastic working environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating and resolving any client / insurer issues that may arise, and will communicate via email/telephone. You will also be responsible for carrying out software installations on various environments, and troubleshoot software installations. The role will require the successful candidate to work as part of a team which is responsible for programming insurer and client underwriting updates, as well as new scheme builds. You will also liaise with the testing department regarding bugs found during testing, and resolve them.

The successful candidate will ideally posses most of the following:-

- Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 and software development languages such as VB6 and VB.NET are essential.
- Good Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to problem solve
- Familiar with RDP
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems beneficial

Training will be provided to enable the successful candidate to fully use their in house software tools which are used in the development process, and may be needed to develop these tools further.

Applicants will need to be well presented with excellent communication skills both verbal and written, ideally with a relevant qualification in programming, however this is not essential. The role will also involve some travel in the UK and may require some out of hours work so flexibility is required.
