Are currently looking to recruit an Applications Engineer

Responsible for the selection of mechanical products used in the automotive industry, providing full technical appraisal of the application by calculation and use of standard formula and data files.

Responsible for the preparation of quotations, assemblies and spare parts to meet customer requirements.

Responsible for providing technical support to sales engineers, agents and customers, worldwide

To work within an ISO 9001 environment in providing a service to the sales department and customers, involving selection and quotation of units and spares. To provide technical support, site service work, Marine sales support and project work. Negotiation and checking of contracts is an essential part of this job.

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a Science / Mathematics Degree

Preferably several years related mechanical engineering experience. An understanding of rotating machinery and previous technical selection is desirable. Formal technical quotation experience and commercial contract understanding/negotiation skills are also desirable.

Full training of a candidate with the right aptitude, but no relevant experience is a possibility.

Key responsibilities of Quality Engineer/Senior Inspector

•To maintain quality system documentation to meet internal Quality Management System requirements.

•To carry out internal audits against ISO 9001, ISO 16949 & AS9100, as applicable to site scope to verify system compliance and maintain current certification.

•To carry out Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities as required including preparation and compilation of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation (ISIRs, FAIRs, Process Control Plans, etc) as required by customers.

•To investigate root cause & report on non-conformance issues, liaising with engineering, manufacturing and customers to resolve identified in a timely manner.

•Liaising with customer SQA / STA engineers.

•Supporting with maintenance and calibration of measurement equipment, preparing calibration reports as required.

•To support development of processes, procedures, work instructions and forms in line with system and process improvement activities.

•To liaise with Engineering, Manufacturing and Inspection supporting them with project delivery and control in line with existing procedures.

•To support the project team with introduction of new projects into the business.

Ideal Experience required of a Quality Engineer/Senior Inspector

• Ideally the successful candidate will have recognised Engineering qualification (e.g. City and Guilds in Mechanical Engineering) or certificated Auditor (QBE).

• Ideally you will have at least 2 years’ experience within the automotive involving the implementation or maintenance of: ISO 9001, TS 16949, AS9100 & ISO14001 (appropriate training in specific standards will be given as required)

• Experience of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement projects will be advantageous

• Sound knowledge of engineering drawings & GD&T

• It is essential to have hands on experience in Quality Control and the use of CMM’s and associated measuring equipment.
