The Graduate/Assistant Transport Planner Opportunity:

We are currently recruiting a Graduate/Assistant Transport Planner to provide support to our senior consultants in delivering current and future projects. The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree e.g. geography, maths or engineering and ideally a transport-related post-graduate qualification. This role would suit a graduate or someone with experience who is looking for their next challenge and is able to hit the ground running.

You will be IT literate with sound analytical ability and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Importantly, you will be enthusiastic and looking for a long-term career in highways and transportation. Full UK driving licence preferred.

Graduate Transport Planner Job Description:

> Assist with data collection, to include parking surveys and trip counts; analyse and present the results

Key responsibilities:

- Working closely with the Transport and logistics Manager and other Assistant Transport and logistics Managers to ensure the smooth, efficient and timely delivery of the products to the customer.
- Deal with customers and internal departments to resolve issues resulting in the products having a great reputation
- Support the supervision and the organisation of the shift on a daily basis, troubleshooting as required.
- Train new Drivers as they join the department.

Duties:

- Training New or Developing Drivers during their induction program
- Assist drivers who are unclear on routes and explaining the new routes
- Keeping maintenance reports on all company vehicles
- Ensure delivery vehicles are in good order, clean and adhere to Food Safety Policy, Health & Safety Law and Highway Law
- Flag to Line Manager any vehicles that are not to Company Standard or within legal requirements
- Communicate instructions to drivers in regard deliveries and routes.
- Solving customer service problems as they arrive, working with the customer care team and drivers
- Completing a combination of Supervisory shifts and Driver Shifts across the week
- During their Supervisory shift completion of following tasks:
o Morning paperwork
o Allocation of special delivery instructions
o Van Zero allocation
o End of shift paperwork
o Handover completed at end of each shift

Key Performance Indicators (KPI)

- Vehicle checks are carried out on regular basis (Maintenance Sheets)
- Records are maintained & up to date. ( Excel Sheets)
- Help reduce delivery errors by drivers. (Complaint Log)
- Sign-off of Induction program for New Drivers

Person Specification:

- Great customer service skills with the ability to work across departments to solve these issues
- Good understanding of roads in London and around M25
- Previous experience or the ability to learn computer skills – including BMS, emails, GPS Tracking System
- Logical thinking and ability to plan and good organisation skills
- Well-developed communication skills with the ability to motivate drivers to improve performance
- Trainer skills, able to explain and demonstrate tasks and behaviours
- Good knowledge of bread, passionate about Food
- Desire to learn and develop new skills
- Full Clean Drivers Licence and Excellent knowledge of Highway Law as set out in The Highway Code
