The role of Accounts Assistant will be:

- Bank Reconciliations.
- Sales Ledger - raising invoices, issuing credit notes.

In order to be successful for this role you will:

- Have recent, relevant experience working in an accounts assistant role.
- Be proficient on SAGE 200.
- Be proficient on EXCEL (pivot tables and v look ups).
- Be able to maintain the Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger and Credit Control functions.
- Be immediately available.

• Maintain and file accounts payable records

• Manage incoming post and emails from the finance inbox
• Maintain regular contact with other departments to obtain and convey information
• Assist with month end procedures
• Maintain sales ledger for all non-fee items
• Provide additional analysis and reconciling of general ledger accounts
• Assume responsibility for effectively researching, tracking, and resolving (or properly referring) accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies
• Assist with other accounting matters such as fixed assets, prepayments and accruals
• Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required

The successful Accounts Assistant will ideally have previous experience in an accounts role although both internal and external training will be provided, where necessary. You will also possess the following skills and experience:

• A basic level of accounting knowledge is essential
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Word skills
• Knowledge and experience of internet banking
• Highly organised and focused, able to multi-task and manage workload
• High level of attention to detail with ability to produce accurate work
• A confident and customer-focussed team-player who enjoys working with people
• Ability to form positive working relationships
• Strong analytical and numerical skills
• Ability to work and make decisions autonomously, whilst recognising the importance of process & compliance
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills

This will be based at our centralised Finance
Department in Maidenhead town centre, just a 5
minute walk from the train station. The busy
Finance team of 9 provides accounting and administrative services to our 6 branches.
The Assistant will be responsible for compiling and issuing monthly Client Balance Reports and taking up all follow-up actions with our Fee Earners and in compliance with the Solicitors Regulatory Authority Accounts Rules.

There will also be a variety of other duties including; Ledger Reconciliations, Monitoring Office Disbursements, Allocating Cash Receipts, Recording Transactions and Card Payments.

The hours of work will be 4 hours each morning
Monday to Friday.
Provided you meet the minimum requirements below;
• Grade C or above in GCSE Mathematics and English Language
• Good knowledge of Outlook, Excel and Word
• Excellent communication skills
• An inquisitive mind with an eye for detail
• A minimum of 3 years Accounts experience
• Legal accounts experience whilst not essential would be helpful

This role provides administration and support to cover the role of Office Administrator during lunch and comfort breaks, exceptionally busy periods and short periods of absence / leave, primarily in the following areas:

* Taking switch board calls and ensuring all calls are dealt with efficiently, screened and redirected as appropriate including taking messages for individuals.
* Receiving and signing in all visitors including providing refreshments and ensuring they are directed to the correct person
* Accepting deliveries
* Dealing with daily incoming mail and franking and coordinating outgoing mail.

Experience/ Skills Required:

* 3-4 years of experience in a financial environment
* Good/excellent computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft packages, especially Great Plains
* Experience of dealing with switchboard calls
* AAT qualified (Desired)
