* Minimum 2 years experience of web development.
* Fluent with raw CSS and XHTML. HTML5 / CSS3 beneficial.
* Standards-based semantic coding rather than layouts.
* Good working knowledge of PHP with experience of integrating conceptual designs into the WordPress and Drupal content management system frameworks.
* Knowledge and experience of web accessibility, usability and responsive design.
* Good understanding of cross-platform / device / browser issues.

We’re looking for clever Web Developers to work on front and back-end website development (about a 50/50 split) alongside our team of experienced developers.

We’re not setting any hard rules on how much experience we require for this position but we do need developers with an excellent knowledge of PHP, MySQL, HTML/CSS and Javascript.

Whether you’re new to the industry or a seasoned professional in web development, if you have a natural enthusiasm and talent for problem solving and web application development, that’s what we’re really looking for. Technically, we also need to see:

- Solid web development skills covering: OO PHP, MySQL, HTML5/CSS, JavaScript and jQuery skills
- Strong OO PHP, not just procedural
- A solid technical background, it doesn’t matter if you’ve got a CS degree or are self taught
- A good understanding of object orientated programming principles/design patterns
- Experience with any PHP frameworks would be highly advantageous (e.g. Zend, Symfony, Laravel)
- Comfortable writing SQL and designing relational database schemas
- Solid experience with responsive web design development and frameworks (e.g. Foundation)
- Knowledge of MVC and DRY coding patterns
- Experience with Smarty
- Best practice coding (e.g. W3C)
- Feed integration (RSS / XML) experience
- Working knowledge of using and creating APIs
- Experience with CSS pre-processors such as SASS and LESS is a bonus

About the role

The UX designer will work within eCommerce team alongside web designers, digital content authors, email and SEO search specialists, who together assist the business to develop the digital marketing offering.

Responsibilities

Support Development teams that operate within the Agile software development framework
Collaborate on user experience planning within the UX, Development and Ecommerce teams
Collaborate on the design, development and enhancing of digital interfaces and user experiences
Aid in facilitating user testing and analysis of results for future proposals

About You
