Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Assistant Head of Housing to manage a team of staff including Area Managers, Former Tenant Arrears Officer, Area Development Officer and Administrative Assistants. The area to be managed has circa 4000 properties made up of general needs accommodation, high rise and accommodation for older persons.

The post holder will have overall responsibility for the management of rent arrears, tenancy related matters and compliance in the designated properties, which also includes staff management and dealing with performance issues.

They are looking for the ideal candidate to have an excellent understanding of housing legislation, policy and best practice. This will also include the welfare reforms, the welfare benefits system and how this will impact upon the recovery of rental income. You will take responsibility for the management of the area and in order to do this job effectively this will require excellent negotiation and communication skills with a “can do” attitude.

The successful candidate for this position will have previous senior management experience within a social housing environment. Ideally holding a relevant housing or social care qualification, a membership of the Chartered Institute of Housing would be advantageous. You will have experience of managing contracts for the delivery of housing management and estate services and of budgetary control. They are seeking a person with the right attitude who has the ability to get things done, and can drive forward service improvements and practices.

You will be required to have a good and sound knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and other legislative requirements and be able to undertake investigations, complete reports and deal with complex cases.
