Job description
Based on site with a major automotive OEM in Basildon, Essex you will be undertaking a review of the internal software processes currently implemented, assessing capability vs industry best practice and develop GAP analysis of processes. You will develop a frame work for benchmarking key practices with strategic partners and suppliers. You will develop a prioritised plan to rollout process improvements to project teams and work with suppliers or in-house teams to ensure timely implementation and consideration of all process improvement workstreams. You will be acting as a Software process expert and provide in-house training for planning / development teams

Any knowledge of CAN communication protocols, automotive onboard diagnostics and “End of Line” (EoL) testing would be advantageous.

You may be required to travel regularly to support programs and liaise with suppliers, so must have a valid passport and the ability to travel around Europe.

 
Experience and Background Skills Required:

- Engineering Degree to BEng/BSc or higher, with significant electronics, software and/or IT content.
- Significant s/w process / solution architecture design / delivery experience.
- Experience of hand-coding ('C', 'C++', perl, php, java J2EE, .NET, VB, etc…)
- Experience with Waterfall and Agile s/w development process and tools
- Experience of Software Configuration Management, Agile Planning and Continuous Integration tools and processes (ClearCase, AccuRev, GIT, SVN, Rally, Jenkins or similar)
- Experience with Windows &/or Linux server administration
- Fundamental understanding of system and software design and process discipline.
- Experience and understanding of modern powertrain control systems would be advantageous though not essential.
- Self-motivated with excellent team and leadership skills.
- Ability to work within a multinational, multicultural cross functional team.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Good office IT skills
- Must be capable of leading, directing and prioritising
