EDF Energy is a core part of the EDF Group and is one of the largest energy companies in Europe with key business operations in France, the UK, Germany and Italy. In the UK we have approximately 15,000 employees. We are the UK’s leading generator and supplier of low carbon energy. We produce about one-fifth of the nation’s electricity from our nuclear, coal and gas power stations, wind farms, and combined heat and power plants. We have a focus on safe, dependable energy generation and an ethos of service excellence. We intend to play a leading role in new nuclear build in the UK and secure a ‘bright’ future for the combined business and its employees.

EDF Energy’s Generation business operates eight nuclear power stations in the UK with a combined capacity of almost 9,000 megawatts providing around a sixth of the UK’s electricity needs – electricity that is vital to the UK economy. Safety is our number one priority, and we pride ourselves in operating our fleet safely and reliably. In a typical year, our power stations avoid the emission of over 30 million tonnes of CO2. That’s equivalent of removing over half of the passenger cars from the UK’s roads. The Upstream division of Generation includes the operation of Cottam and West Burton coal power stations, the supply chain for coal and biomass, renewables assets, generation forecasting and hedging.

Environmental Safety Group set and monitor Radiological standards for site activities and specify Radiological Risk Assessments for site based activities.

Once training complete principal accountabilities will be specification and implementation of Radiological risk assessments for work activities across Dungeness B.
Depending upon background the individual may be required to take on Radioactive Waste responsibilities.

As a mimimum, candidates will have a relevant HNC (or equivalent).

Science based education preferably qualified to degree level. Completion of some or all of the HPA Radiological Courses leading to RPA would be an advantage.
