My Suffolk based client is a leading online digital communications company, specialising in web consultancy, design, development, integration and hosting services.

They assist clients with all aspects of their online digital strategies and have now delivered solutions to over 200 diverse customers.

To assist in their continued expansion they are looking for a talented Application Support Web Developer to join their small, friendly team and contribute towards their exciting plans for the future.

They are looking to recruit a full stack web developer with a broad skill set covering HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Java/JSP (or equivalent) and SQL to work across a number of web based projects for clients.

The role will focus heavily on the support and maintenance of numerous websites, so an extensive back catalogue of development experience with a logical, analytical approach to troubleshooting are of far greater value in this particular role than design creativity.

They know that not everyone is suited to short timescale, quick turnaround task switching, so if you find huge projects a slog but you like detecting race conditions, improving poorly performing SQL queries, resolving quirky browser incompatibilities and fixing issues with data and back end logic then this is definitely the role for you!

About the role:

You will be working in a multi-skilled team involved in the ongoing improvement and stability of many websites. As a full stack developer you will be involved with all aspects of the development process and be expected to use your knowledge to bring disparate disciplines together to achieve the best results. They use tools such as Trello and ZenDesk to manage day-to-day work and hold daily stand-up meetings.

The role will give the right person a great opportunity to work on varied and challenging projects within an interesting and fulfilling sector.

About you:

The ideal candidate would be well versed in the following:

• Java and JSP (inc. Servlets, tags, JUEL, etc.) or equivalent transferable knowledge
• OO concepts and design patterns such as MVC
• SQL (e.g. Postgres, SQL Server)
• HTML (including HTML5)
• CSS (including pre-processors such as LESS or Sass)
• JavaScript (including jQuery, Modernizer, Backbone, etc.)
• Responsive Web Design and related techniques
• Version control software (e.g. Subversion, GIT)

You will be expected to live and breathe all things web and have a broad knowledge of all the systems and technologies that go together to create a modern website.

You should have a passion for writing clean maintainable code and ensuring quality at all stages of development. You’ll be expected to be opinionated about the tools you use and the code you create whilst being open to learning new approaches and trying different techniques. You’ll also be expected to keep abreast of wider industry trends and have a keen interest in keeping your skills sharp.

They'll help you with that!

Communication skills will also be important as you will be working in a multi-disciplined team where information and knowledge sharing are priorities.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful and flourishing organisation offering strong long-term career potential.
