This is a great opportunity for a 1st Line Applications Support Consultant with basic Unix skills to learn how to manage Amazon Web Services (AWS) as part of your role.

You will be the first port of call for a leading edge mobile data capture company, who are growing at an incredible rate. As a 1st Line Support Consultant your previous experience and duties will include:
• Timely response and resolution of external queries on the phone
• Log issues on the system and provide regular updates
• Escalating technical issues to the 2nd line support team
• Making recommendations and suggestion to improve service
• Create and establish Service levels and monitor issue resolutions
• The ability to understand the needs of customers
• Identify common issues and recommend fixes to the technical department to prevent re-occurrence
After being taught AWS, you will be responsible for the complete administration of the system, including load balancing, penetration testing and all the other associated duties.

Additional key duties for this role will include:
• Basic UNIX administration including Log analysis, recommending when additional Servers need to be used (THIS IS AN ESSENTIAL SKILL).
• Any experience of UBUNTU, centOS will be a distinct advantage, as will AWS and the use of LAMP
• Ensuring scalability in the system and future proofing

The ideal 1st Line Support Consultant will have previous experience in a similar role, where you were on the phone / e-mailing external customers.

There will be an opportunity over the next 12 months to grow the team and pick your own members and be promoted into a more senior role.

In return you will receive a salary of £20,000 to £25,000 pa.

You will maintain a working knowledge of approved third party software and hardware and will perform any other duties as required by the Development Manager.

With a minimum of 5 GCSE’s (to include English and Maths), the successful candidate will ideally hold a relevant IT related degree or professional qualification. It is essential for you to have experience of programming in COBOL as well as knowledge of SQL and UNIX and you will have ideally come from a distribution / wholesale industry – although this is not essential. We are looking for an analytical thinker with excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and you will have the capacity to learn and develop your skills within this varied and interesting position.

You must be flexible to work in different locations as and when required therefore you must hold a full driving licence and have your own transport.
