INTERMEDIATE MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER - Central London

Are you an Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer looking to join a household name within Engineering? If so my client, a well-known Building Services Consultancy with a strong brand name currently require somebody of your experience to be based in their Central London office.

This specific team work with a number of large London based private sector property developers, whose portfolio consists of mainly commercial and high end residential shell & core and CAT A works.
As Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for undertaking the design of mechanical building engineering services including plant room design, heating, domestic hot and cold water services, ventilation and air conditioning. Day to day duties will include; design and supervise mechanical services, prepare sketch and scheme designs, prepare drawings, specifications and tender documentation, assist with tenders and preparation of tender reports, attend site progress meetings and inspection of installation works, conduct surveys of existing installations and preparation of condition reports and preparation of project cost plans and estimates.

The ideal candidate would:

• Been educated to HNC/Degree standard in Mechanical Engineering
• An excellent knowledge of the current Building Regulations, SAP calculations, IES calculations, together with thermal heat gains and heat losses.
• Specific knowledge of refrigeration systems and pipework, together with general heating, cooling and ventilation systems.
• Previous experience of both commercial and residential project management is needed for this role
• Obtained Chartered Engineer status with CIBSE or IMechE, or be proactively working towards chartership.

This is a great opportunity to join one of largest firms within Building Services and in the long term there are opportunities to progress within the business. This relates to title and responsibility but also to chance to have a lead role on their projects.

In return my client can offer a salary of up to £38,000 + Package including Pension or Healthcare.

You’ll be joining an established Building Services team whose current order book has live projects in sectors from education, residential and public buildings to an entire urban regeneration of a town centre. In addition to this they are assisting in a number of the UK’s & Europe’s largest projects.

Responsibilities:
1 guiding the responsible engineers carry out key technology design.
2 responsible for engineers training and troubleshooting methods in order to increase the overall technical strength in the department.
3 Preparation of core technologies to guide the process design work, preparation of design checklist, preparation of relevant corporate standards.
4 monitoring the 3D model and 2D drawing design.
5 guiding the preparation of the key technologies DVP verification methods to analyze test data, test put forward suggestions for improvement.

Requirements:
1 must have at least 7 years experience in engine industry (excluding technical management qualifications)

3 must have at least had two key practical designs and problem solving experiences in cylinder head and gas distribution system. A clear understanding of the problem solving process and the practical application.
4 knowledge TS16949 quality systems, implementation of the design process and be able to comply with clear recommendations for process improvement.
5 familiar with the 3D design software (recommended as Pro / E or CATIA software), can guide the responsible engineer for digital to analog optimization and program improvement.
6 familiar with CAE software, familiar with the calculation process, the results can be evaluated and may make recommendations for improvement.
7 must have at least one published design patent.
