My client, a world leading developer of DSL Semiconductors are looking for a talented Embedded software engineer with enthusiasm for embedded software to join their very high calibre DSP team.

The team you will join is responsible for the development of embedded firmware for a DSL system-on-chip chipset incorporating the latest world class VLIW/SIMD DSP processors. You will be involved in a variety of different, interesting and challenging activities:

This includes:

• Writing embedded firmware for the DSL SoC, both in ‘C’ and assembler.
• Optimising algorithms, typically in Assembler.
• Specifying the sub-blocks of hardware within the SoC and developing C++ models that are used to verify the hardware.
• Supporting the development of the embedded firmware.

Your experience will need to include:

• Strong academic background with good first or higher degree from a well-respected university in a relevant subject (for example mathematics, computer science, engineering, physical natural sciences).
• Strong Embedded software engineering skills.
• Thorough working knowledge of C and/or C++.
• Some exposure to assembly programming.

It would be good to have:

• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. bash, Python).
• Experience of developing in a Linux environment.
• Knowledge of signal processing.

This data comes from many sources including regular recording campaigns where they break every type of glass, fire lots of guns, encourage people to get aggressive into a microphone and lots more.

Responsibilities
* As part of our engineering team, you will contribute to the design, development and usage of the products and tools which implement our unique sound recognition systems.
* Responsibilities include managing the training process of sound recognition systems based on machine learning methods.

Technical Skills
* Must have experience, at least 2 years commercial experience or a masters/PhD in a related subject.

Required:
* Software engineering & embedded systems (ARM)
