As an Engineer based within our busy Severn Valley office, you’ll be responsible for co-ordinating information relating to highways, drainage, setting out and other engineering related matters. The role will involve close liaison with Land and Construction staff at all levels, in addition to key accountabilities relating to both highway, drainage and utility services.

Ideally educated to HNC/HND level or above, you’ll need a proven engineering track record, ideally within the residential development sector. You must be fully conversant with AutoCAD software. In addition to your acknowledged ability to work to deadlines, you’ll also:

• be fully confident when liaising with fellow housing professionals at all levels
• have excellent all-round interpersonal skills

The Role

The Commercial, Bid & Proposals Director will manage the commercial response to bids, proposals and tenders to win profitable contracts for the business. You will oversee all client and supplier side RFQs, ITTs etc., managing sub-contractors to respond appropriately to all costing, estimating, bid, tender and proposal opportunities with clients as appropriate.

You will manage the commercial strategy for project bidding to deliver maximum performance, productivity and profitability, maintaining the integrity of estimating data and ensuring it is applied at all times to the commercial advantage of the company. You will ensure all bids are submitted accurately and on time, monitoring bid costs and undertaking pre- and post-contract analysis with customers, agents, suppliers and internal operations staff.

Our client provides construction, fit-out, shop-fitting, point of sale and project design and support services (including specialist products) to some of the most well-known retail and leisure brands throughout the UK and Europe. Their integrated offering provides specialist expertise, project management and contract management skills to take projects from concept design through to completion.

The Person

The successful Candidate will be have relevant industry experience ( e.g. QS / Quantity Surveyor ) and/or qualifications or equivalent time and sector exposure in a hands on role. You will have relevant bid, tender, proposals, contracts, estimating, negotiation, Q.S. and commercial experience on both the client and supplier side.

Knowledge of project management principles and practices in the fit-out, shop-fitting, construction, sector and the type of different building contracts in current use is also desired. You will have strong numeracy and financial management skills and be fully IT and computer literate, analytical, methodical, innovative and process orientated.

All this will require the development of productive relationships with supplier counterparts.

Qualified at least to BTEC/HNC level in building studies, you must have a proven track record in housing development, ideally supported by experience of the COINS surveying package. With a good level of computer-literacy and first-class, all-round communication skills, you have a professional and flexible approach to the demands of surveying for housing development and infrastructure. This should include experience of:

• budget preparation
• carrying out valuations
• appointing subcontractors
• processing payments and generally managing finances across a number of sites.

As Business Development Manager your main duties will include;

Salary: £36,000 - £40,000 Dependent on experience
