We’re now looking for an experienced QS with housing experience, although not essential, for our developments within our Severn Valley region.

As a Quantity Surveyor based within our Commercial Department, you’ll liaise closely with our Buying and Technical disciplines as part of a support network for the construction of new homes. Key responsibilities include the management of sub-contract orders, site valuations, work in progress, upkeep of computer records and the general surveying management duties for sites under your control. It’s a key role in helping the business to control our finances during the lifecycle of house-building projects and will also involve:

• tendering documentation and processes
• optimisation of third party cost control
• review, negotiation and approval of project-related supplier costs.
All this will require the development of productive relationships with supplier counterparts.

Qualified at least to BTEC/HNC level in building studies, you must have a proven track record in housing development, ideally supported by experience of the COINS surveying package. With a good level of computer-literacy and first-class, all-round communication skills, you have a professional and flexible approach to the demands of surveying for housing development and infrastructure. This should include experience of:

• budget preparation
• carrying out valuations
• appointing subcontractors
• processing payments and generally managing finances across a number of sites.

As an Engineer based within our busy Severn Valley office, you’ll be responsible for co-ordinating information relating to highways, drainage, setting out and other engineering related matters. The role will involve close liaison with Land and Construction staff at all levels, in addition to key accountabilities relating to both highway, drainage and utility services.

Ideally educated to HNC/HND level or above, you’ll need a proven engineering track record, ideally within the residential development sector. You must be fully conversant with AutoCAD software. In addition to your acknowledged ability to work to deadlines, you’ll also:

• be fully confident when liaising with fellow housing professionals at all levels
• have excellent all-round interpersonal skills
• possess a clear ability co-ordinate the full range of consultants and local authority representatives involved in the design and planning process.
