Senior Software Engineer - Bristol

Superb rare opportunity to join leading Cambridge company based from Bristol developing embedded software for wireless chips.

Applicants will be skilled C/assembler programmers within a resource constrained multi-processor environment. Scripting languages such as perl and python will be useful. The successful candidate will be working primarily on physical-layer firmware development for WLAN and as needed on other wireless technologies. The candidate is expected to have some understanding of signal processing and wireless communications. This role involves understanding of algorithmic, modem and RF calibration requirements, translating them into firmware design, implementation and verification of features. Interactions are to be expected with other parts of design, firmware, and software engineers to define, architect, and implement features for WLAN.
Experience in MAC and networking protocols, especially wireless networking protocols, is desirable.

· Excellent proven understanding of programming languages including C in a commercial environment

· Understanding of Signal Processing and Communications

· Excellent understanding of software design techniques

· Understanding of wireless communication protocols such as WiFi, Bluetooth,UWB, GSM or UMTS

· Experienced in debug techniques

· Understanding of software architecture

· Experienced in SW configuration management

· Experience of scripting such as perl, python or shell scripts.

Absolute is operating as a recruitment business for the supply of temporary to permanent opportunities. Our customer is recruiting a CAD Technician to join them on a temporary to permanent basis as soon as possible.

You will be involved in producing design layout drawings, using AutoCAD - so experience in this is essential as well as a good working knowledge of MS Office. In addition, you would be required to liaise directly with clients/engineers/architects, along with producing material schedules for delivery to site

Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate experience in a similar position, though job specific training will be provided. Candidates coming from a construction industry, structural, civil engineering or steel fabrication background would be of particular interest though this is not essential.

This role starts on a temporary basis, with a likelihood of becoming permanent after a period of time.
