My client is looking to expand their team by taking on an Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer to work on commercial projects including Schools, Hospitals and Offices.
Salary £30,000 to £36,000 plus 5% pension and Health Care

Project Related Responsibilities
* Review project brief and client requirements. * Investigate initial design options available. * Produce design feasibility reports and scheme drawings. * Produce budget costs. * Manage information flow to client and other members of the design teams. * Attend project meetings and liaise on a regular basis with the client and other members of the design team. * Carry-out site surveys and produce information to record relevant information. * Produce reports to identify the Scope of Works, System Selection and Design Criteria. * Review information being issued by other members of design team. * Report issues to the Project Manager. * Manage / identify additional duties and ensure corresponding time is identified and recorded. * Carry-out and record manual and / or computer aided calculations. * Development of design on drawings and mark-ups. * Liaise and obtain relevant information / quotations from statutory authorities and utilities. * Prepare 'hand drafts' of drawings to a standard suitable for CAD. * Select plant and equipment. Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers to gain recommendations of proposals and selections. * Draft specification documentation. * Produce schedules of equipment. * Check and modify CAD drawings before issue. Ensure design is fully co-ordinated with other disciplines and architectural / structural details. * Liaise with CAD manager to ensure drawing standards, drawing registers etc. * Produce full design of Building Engineering Services. * Calculate predicted energy consumption, compliance with 'Part L' and SAP ratings. * Review tender returns. * Chase sub contractors for production of information. * Review technical submissions, construction drawings and 'Requests for Information' from Contractors. Identify need for issue of Service' Engineers Proposal. * Attend site meetings with the contractors. * Carryout site inspections and produce observation reports to record and advise of findings. * Witness testing and production of schedule indicating defects and deficiencies at Practical Completion. * Carry out 'peer review' of others design as required under QMS. * Assist in the production and maintenance of 'standard' documents and systems. * Comply with Health & Safety requirements of each site/project. * Reporting project progress and status to your line Manager for specific projects.
Previous relevant experience in a similar role.
Must have experience in dealing with clients at establishment head level.
Experience in working to agreed targets within a commercial environment. .
Relevant Professional Qualification.
Current CITB CSCS card or be prepared to obtain.

* Ability to progress a project from briefing to completion with the minimum of supervision. * Ability to produce and communicate technical information in written and drawn format. * Must be able to demonstrate relevant up to date CPD records. * Must be able to work unsupervised to a high quality. * Able to meet tight deadlines. * A responsive, constructive and flexible attitude towards working arrangements within a team environment. * Good organisational skills. * Proficient in using CAD and IT (Microsoft Access, Excel, Word and Project as well as Heavcomp (M) /Dialux (E). Proficient in using IES. * Must be familiar with the risks and hazards associated with asbestos. * Must have relevant construction and health and safety knowledge/legislation. * Able to demonstrate business/financial awareness in relation to project.
