An experienced IT Support Administrator is sought to join this engineering company based in Poole, Dorset.

The organisation has a global reach across 12 countries including sites in America, Australia, India and various sites across Europe.

The IT Support Administrator is a varied role including support, administration and project work and also includes the opportunity to be involved in SAP Business One (Application Admin, SQL queries, Crystal Reports). TITLE: IT Support Administrator
LOCATION: Poole, Dorset
SALARY: up to £25,000 (dependant on experience)
BENEFITS: Option to join contributory pension and health schemes
TERMS: 3 months fixed term contract, with a view to becoming permanent

Responsibilities as an IT Support Administrator include:
- Installing and configuring PC/Server hardware, operating systems and applications
- To provide some 1st & 2nd line desk side and remote support to users during UK office hours (there is a Third Party Hosted and Managed Service Provider in place so this role works in partnership and includes elements of vendor management and strategy)
- Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware/software faults
- Working with third parties regarding hardware and software
- Setting up new users accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues & permissions
- Supporting remote users connected using VPN software
- Basic administration of central IT resources: Active Directory, file server, print server, Exchange Server, VPN, SQL Server, FTP server
- Oversight of proactive server monitoring and reporting
- Oversight of monitoring and managing backups
- Reviewing and deploying Servers, laptops, workstations and CAD workstations
- Virus removal

The ideal IT Support Administrator will possess the following:
- At least three years’ experience in an IT Support environment (or a relevant IT qualification, if you are looking for a junior role)
- Excellent knowledge of Windows 7 and Office 2003/2007/2010
- Good knowledge of Windows Server 2003/2008/2012, Active Directory, Network sharing/permissions
- Good knowledge of basic Windows network components (TCP/IP, DNS, group policy, etc.)
- Good knowledge of content and access protection systems (antivirus, Firewall, VPN, etc.)
- Although not essential, any Microsoft examinations/certification plus knowledge of VMware, Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes/Domino, SharePoint , Cisco Telephone Systems and Solid Edge would be advantageous

Personal skills needed for this IT Support Administrator role:
- Ability to follow diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system
- Prioritising and managing many open support cases at one time, including Project Work
- Approachable and friendly, ability to work in a team but also self-sufficient and responsible
- Excellent communication skills (English, verbal & written), diagnostic and troubleshooting skills coupled with the ability to prioritise tasks
