The SAP Resource Manager Role:

Operationally the PMO provides and enables project prioritisation, management information, financial reporting, resource planning and decision-making

The Resource Manager will sit within the Project Management Team and is responsible for assigning the right people to the right projects at the right time. The successful candidate will work with the Project Managers, who are responsible for monitoring activity and take responsibility for coordinating capability. You will determine, together with the Principal Project Manager responsible for back-office operations, the forecast headcount and hiring needs based upon project pipeline and the requirements of each project. 

Responsibilities and Expectations:

+ Contribute to the successful implementation of the PMO’s strategy, responsibilities, services and deliverables
+ Search by country, region, internationally for consulting employees and contractors within the UK and across other itelligence entities. Screen as required for skill and experience level
+ Liaise with practice heads to understand capability and availability. Assign using approved scheduling tools. Understand it.staffing and provide support to develop the tool, contribute at global level and also to the development of the it.skills catalogue
+ Liaise with project managers to understand detailed resource requirements across projects
+ Liaise with consultants and the back office to update availability and scheduling. Ensure that the scheduling tool is up to date and accurate with regards to bookings, cost, revenue and other as required
+ Liaise with Consulting and Practice Directors to report key metrics. Provide effective and accurate maintenance and accuracy of the weekly and monthly forecasting tools
+ Manage resource escalation to resolve issues and queries. Understand the needs of projects and handle requests. Provide information as requested
+ Identify low utilisation across individuals and teams and recommend corrective actions to maximize utilisation rates and billing. Provide input into reasons behind “white space” and recommend corrective action

Required Skills and Knowledge:

+ Proven track record for efficiently and effectively managing resource planning and coordinating projects. Experience of managing multiple resource requirements simultaneously and with minimal supervision. You are likely to have a minimum of 3 years experience in project and programme resourcing/management
+ Advanced Excel capability and strong skills in creating and maintaining project and programme plans for resourcing, including risks, actions, issues and dependencies (RAID)
+ Knowledge of benefits and dependency mapping, risk management and resource planning
+ Highly proficient IT skills in Microsoft office tools for reporting, presentations and analytics
+ Excellent written/oral communication skills. A second language would be an advantage
+ Gravitas and diplomatic ability to deal with and influence others at all levels of the business both locally and globally
+ Strong and evidence based ability to build lasting relationships with key stakeholders both locally and globally
+ Knowledgeable and a level of understanding of change management methods
+ Experience of SAP capabilities and tools is required
