THE ROLE
The Central Tax Team are responsible for providing strategic tax advice, implementing tax policies, managing tax risk and ensuring / monitoring adherence to tax compliance obligations across the International firm.
This role can be based in Sheffield, Manchester or Leeds (Minimum one day a week in Sheffield). Other travel may be expected to serve the business needs.
The International Tax Manager will have responsibility for compliance the following jurisdictions:
UK
Ireland
France
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work collaboratively with Finance, in-house counsel, and Risk, as well as working in cooperation with client facing teams
Identify and manage permanent establishment risk
Where required, develop controls and tax risk management systems
Maintain comprehensive records
Develop relationships with key personnel
Run and report on projects to resolve tax related issues within the business
Review and update tax reserving and release systems in France where necessary
Provide cover and support when the Head of Tax and Partner Services or the Senior Tax Managers are unavailable
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
Must be a qualified accountant and/or chartered tax advisor
Have experience of working in tax - ideally experience in a mixed tax role
Have a strong knowledge of tax fundamentals across different areas of tax and be able to apply that existing knowledge and experience to international practices and legislation
Knowledge of International taxation laws and regulations is advantageous
Have strong planning and organisational skills, accepting ownership of and accountability for tasks
Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, coupled with the ability to influence, negotiate and persuade
Have a strong client service orientation, setting high standards of delivery
Be logical, analytical and intelligent with an ability to work in a flexible, agile manner, mindful of other non-tax constraints
Build and maintain strong relationships across all levels within the organisation in all jurisdictions
