Our client now has an opportunity at their LYOCELL continuous operation factory site for a Laboratory Technician, reporting to the Quality Manager working in a busy, fast moving laboratory performing routine analysis on materials from different parts of the production process, using modern analytical equipment to ensure that our client’s fibre always meets customers’ requirements.
You will safely carry out and record both routine and non-routine, chemical and physical testing duties including raw materials, fibre and process intermediates. You will identify and highlight any problems or unusual variations. You will help to improve existing, and develop new Laboratory procedures. You will arrange and conduct the calibration of all laboratory instruments and complete/obtain the associated documentation.
You will ideally have achieved Maths and English GCSE grade C or equivalent as a minimum, possess good analytical and verbal communication skills and be able to discuss issues professionally and logically. You will be able to multi task whilst remaining accurate, careful and disciplined ensuring safe working in all tasks. You will be dedicated, hardworking and self-motivated showing good laboratory procedures awareness and understand the importance of safety within a laboratory. You will need to be dexterous, have a hands-on approach to tasks and demonstrate excellent attention to detail. Basic report writing and computer skills are also required. You will be flexible, positive and willing to adopt new practices and be actively involved in developing the safety culture
It would be an advantage to be familiar with analytical chemistry testing techniques, wet chemistry, knowledge of chromatography, inaccuracies, sources of error & sampling techniques. However, this is not essential as training will be provided.
