Industrial Engineer – VCL

Department: Production

Reporting To: Industrial Engineering Supervisor

Responsible For: N/A

Job Purpose: To plan, design and co-ordinate processes / methods for the manufacture of all components utilising modern tooling technology, ensuring the most cost effective and efficient method of production.   

Limits of Authority: Tooling requirements are priced prior to approval from appropriate director.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Structuring, planning and producing programmes for tools
  • Collate tools required, source new tooling and design fixturing to aid the manufacture of the component
  • Improve manufacturing methods and reducing runtimes therefore increasing the efficiency of machine tools
  • Liaise with Sales, Quality and Materials departments to ensure all customer requirements are being met in a timely manner
  • Implement change requests liaising with sales and purchasing as instructed by customers (back-charge costs etc).
  • Updating structures, routings and programmes as per customer revision changes
  • Ensure change documentation marked up to suit work in progress orders
  • Engineering support for Shop Floor – troubleshooting programming queries, etc
  • Micro manage key components in manufacture to ensure a smooth throughput to completion
  • Quarterly audit of all procedures as per QA requirements and VCL operating manual
  • Ensure customer enquiries are processed effectively and efficiently
  • Generate reports as required
  • Adhere to all site QHSE regulations at all times
  • To promote positive company image demonstrating enthusiasm for the company
  • Undertake specific projects as determined by Industrial Engineering Supervisor and Production Director
  • To provide support and direction to other members of the production team when required

Time Served Engineer or equivalent

Knowledge and Experience

Good knowledge of Oil & Gas industry with experience of precision engineering processes

Ability to programme a variety of machine tools

Edgecam proficient for design of tooling and fixturing requirements

Strong problem solving skills

Good knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office package

Hours:                  37½ hrs per week (day shift)
