Programme Leader – IB English Literature

Salary: £22,034 - £35,456 FTE per annum plus excellent benefits

Hours: 18.5 hours per week (0.5FTE)

Contract: Permanent

The Faculty of English, Languages and IB leads our very successful International Baccalaureate programme, which celebrated 25 years of provision at Exeter College in 2018. We pride ourselves on our inclusive approach to the delivery of the IBDP, promoting its core values of independent and active learning within a globally-minded community, and because of the great diversity of students who join the IB here, our community is an especially vibrant and active one. Our students have succeeded with excellent results year on year, with last year's cohort achieving an average of 36 points - significantly above the IB World average as well as above the UK national average. Over 20% of our learners achieved 40+ points.

The Faculty is dedicated to providing high quality teaching and learning experiences across a range of Level 3 provision, including A Level English Literature, English Language, Modern Foreign Languages and Classical  Civilisation in addition to the IB, and the progression, success rates and progress of our learners are excellent. We are committed to supporting learners to achieve to the very best of their ability and are eager to continue to develop our enthusiastic and highly motivated group of staff to support this remit. We have an exciting opportunity to join the Faculty as a Programme Leader in IB English Literature and we are looking for an outstanding teacher with the ability to inspire learners and support them to enjoy and achieve.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for motivating and supporting learners to maximise their potential. You will be a committed advocate of the International Baccalaureate, and the value of the Diploma to learners today. Ideally you will have a track record of proven excellence in achieving outstanding outcomes in IB English Literature, and will be dedicated to consistently honing and refining your approaches to teaching, learning and assessment. As an innovative and creative practitioner, you will inspire high levels of learner engagement and enjoyment. You will have the ability to build productive working relationships with learners and to provide high quality pastoral care as an IB tutor. Working within the Faculty of English, Languages and IB, you will also need to have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and to be a strong communicator.
