Volunteering Officer
Hours: Part-time for 18 3/4 hours per week to 31 March 2021
Salary: This post attracts a salary of GBP21,589 p.a. pro-rata with an essential car user allowance of GBP600 p.a. pro-rata
Location: Truro
Volunteer Cornwall is a county-wide organisation, supporting the development of people and communities through voluntary action.
We have an exciting post for a part time Volunteering Officer to set up, co-ordinate and deliver a new project funded by Macmillan Cancer Support which is focusing on supporting people living with cancer by recruiting and supporting volunteers to provide a range of practical support activities.
The base is negotiable dependent on location:
• Launch the project with a suitable PR & Marketing campaign
• Recruit and train volunteers for this project
• Visit homes that require practical support to assess the level of help needed
• Identify existing volunteers in the community who could help
• Identify community groups/churches with people who could help
• Identify local businesses who might like to help as part of their CSR - Corporate Volunteering
• Test alternative approaches e.g. using Volunteer Leads
• Develop relationships with key referral sources to grow referral numbers
• Link with existing projects
• Produce reports and collate statistics
• Collect feedback and produce evaluation reports
• Attend monthly and quarterly meetings as required
The successful applicant will have a passion for making a difference to the lives of people; an understanding of the needs of people affected by cancer and strong communication skills. Good I.T. skills are essential as is the ability to work as part of a wider team focused on improving health and care outcomes.
Access to a car to facilitate the travel requirements of the role is essential.
