Learning & Pastoral Support Officer (LPSO)

Term Time Only + 10 days

Grade 6, Points 27 – 31

£21,658 - £24,789 (actual salary)

We are seeking to recruit an outstanding, energetic and committed LPSO to join the strong, caring and committed staff in our pastoral team from September (or as soon as possible).  The successful candidate will enjoy working with students and have a passion for improving the life chances of young people by helping to raise standards and secure well-being.  LPSOs have a critical role to play across the academy, acting as an essential point of contact between the school and families.  The successful candidate will demonstrate both the ability to oversee the pastoral care of the year group as well as being able to track and support students' academic achievements.  We are looking for an exceptional candidate with the confidence and determination to uphold the academy's high standards and act as a role model for students, promoting the academy values of fairness, ambition and respect.  Excellent communication skills are essential as effective liaison between parents, staff and students is central to the role.

The main aspects of the LPSO role are:

  • To be a Head of Year for a particular year group in the academy.
  • To take the lead on all aspects of pastoral care for a year group including behaviour and attendance.
  • To monitor the academic progress of students within a year group.
  • To develop positive and professional working relationships with the families of students within a year group.

This is a key position in a supportive, vibrant and diverse academy community offering the opportunity to make a substantial contribution to our pastoral system and make a significant difference to the lives of young people in North Manchester.  If you have the passion, drive and skills to develop outstanding pastoral provision for all students in our academy, we want to hear from you!

“The Co-op Academies Trust, as an aware employer is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults as its number one priority. This commitment to robust recruitment, selection and induction procedures extends to organisations and services linked to the Trust on its behalf”.
