Rethink Mental Illness help people with their day to day living and social skills, as well as providing access to social activities, further education, employment and training.
 
We are recruiting for passionate and enthusiastic Full Time Mental Health Support Workers to join our brand new CQC Registered Housing Service in Torquay, Devon, providing a supportive home environment that paves the way to greater independence and recovery. We have both night staff and day staff positions available, and we are also recruiting for Bank Staff.
 
About the role:
 
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will lead the way to a better quality of life for everyone affected by severe mental illness.
 
You will work under the leadership and guidance of the Service Manager to support individuals to maximise their independence and to ensure person centered recovery focused support is provided to individuals.
 
Working flexibly as part of a team, you will be required to work evenings, weekends and night shifts as required.
 
Your role will also involve:
 
- Enabling individuals to self manage their personal and domestic resources and to undertake activities of daily living
- Working with service users in developing, reviewing, monitoring and adapting support and safety plans
- Working as a part of a rota supporting with occasional sleep ins
 
About you:
 
To be considered as a Mental Health Support Worker, you will need:
 
- To be a great relationship builder, working directly with the people who live in our service
- A good understanding of mental illness, gained either through work or personal experience
- An NVQ Level 2 Health and Social Care (or equivalent) or be willing to work towards,
- Good communication and organisational skills
 
Other organisations may call these roles Care Worker, Mental Health Worker, Mental Health Co-ordinator, Mental Health Assistant, Care Co-ordinator, Social Care Worker, or Care Assistant.
