Graduate Civil Engineer

A graduate civil or structural engineer is required by a well established civil & structural consultancy. IStructE and ICE approved training is on offer, plus hands on experience in the design and delivery of building structures and civil engineering projects. They are independently owned and profitable with several UK offices and a reputation for high quality work.

Their project work load typically ranges from GBP500k to GBP20m. Reporting to an associate you will gain experience in building structures and civil engineering design. Structural work will encompass steel, concrete, timber and masonry projects. Civil engineering design will cover bridges, retaining structures, highways, drainage and geotechnical. You evolve to specialise in certain disciplines depending your strengths and interests. Training of graduates is structured to provide insight into the whole design process, enabling you to develop an understanding of how projects are conceived, priced and delivered. Early responsibility for project delivery on smaller schemes, under supervision will be introduced early on in your career.

About you: You should be a degree qualified civil or structural engineer with a 2:1 or above from a reputable university. A strong interest in the built environment is essential. In addition, they are looking for someone who is articulate with strong communication and interpersonal skills. You will have regular correspondence and contact with developers, architects and stakeholders. Your written and verbal skills will need to be sharp, the former should be apparent from your CV should you wish to apply.
