My client, one of Kent's leading law firms with a fantastic reputation for the care of it's staff as well as the work it does for it's clients, are seeking a HR Officer.
About the role:
Each HR Officer works closely with other members of the HR Team to support key HR processes and the business in a generalist capacity.
The duties of the team alter to keep pace with the changing needs and the development of the firm. The exact duties of each team member may vary and a very flexible approach is called for, particularly as each person covers for the work of the others.
Main duties include but are not limited to:
* Work with the HR Manager, Senior HR Officer and HR Officer to provide a comprehensive HR service to the firm
* Keep colleagues up to date with regards to on-going staff issues, as and when they arise
* Manage discipline, grievance and routine employee relations situations
* To work with people managers in situations where they need additional support and guidance
* Ensuring that the operational processes are effective, efficient and accurate and constantly looking for improvements to processes where these will save cost or improve service to the business
* Actively participating, contributing and progressing HR projects and initiatives (i.e. EDI, GDPR, Career Paths);
* Assist with the annual salary review process including collating and analysing data (internally/externally), mail merges and preparation of documentation
* Generating own correspondence and dealing with typing and preparation of non-routine correspondence and e-mails for the HR Manager
* Supporting the HR team with the management of the HR database, by running ad hoc/recurring reports, data inputting and updates, identify and resolve system or data issues
* Working with the Senior HR Officer and Recruitment Advisor on recruitment matters including, short-listing, testing and interviewing
* Assisting with the on-boarding of new joiners and departure processes for leavers such as exit interviews
* Managing firm wide sabbaticals by maintaining up to date records, system updates, and notifications;
* Assisting the HR team with the biannual appraisal process
* Travel between office locations as and when required to meet the needs of the team/business.
About You:
The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of employment law, best practice and the interpretation of policy. You will also be:
* Competent across the various HR functions i.e. employee relations, recruitment, performance management, on-boarding etc
* Confident in utilising a Human Resource Information System
* Able to deliver work to commercial and financial targets/deadlines
* Accustomed to dealing with external parties, partners, fee earners and support staff at all levels
* Accustomed to dealing with a wide range of issues at one time and working for and with several people at once in competing time frames
CIPD qualified would be desirable but not essential
