Senior Composites Engineer - Devon - Permanent - Competitive Salary

An opening has arisen for a Senior Composites Engineer to join a global leading yacht manufacturer in the South West. The main purpose of this role is to provide support to the Head of Naval Architecture with a focus on all composite matters ensuring the most cost effective composites processes.

Responsibilities Include:

* Lead, drive and manage on a day to day basis the team of Naval Architects - Composites

* Monitor production of first of type and resolution of Change Notes in timely manner

* Provide technical support to the business on all matters relating to composites

* Create repair strategies on a case by case basis

* Set strategies for common structural (and non structural) composites parts

* Educate, train and support all staff, as required, with composite part production best practice

* Responsible for accuracy and completeness of drawings, models or other deliverable from other personnel

* Instigate and manage change to reduce costs and improve quality within the group remit

* Qualification of supplier, materials and processes on behalf of the business

Experience & Qualifications required:

* Degree qualified in relevant discipline or relevant experience in lieu

* Five years' experience in a yacht / ship design, manufacturing or engineering environment

* Achieved professional status with the Engineering Council through a suitable body (Royal Institution of Naval Architecture, Institution of Marine Engineers, etc.) to Incorporated Engineer level at minimum

* Actively progressing for further professional status with the Engineering Council through a suitable body (Royal Institution of Naval Architecture, Institution of Marine Engineers, etc.) to Chartered Engineer level

* Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and Siemens NX & Teamcentre. Experience with FEA analysis (e.g. CODA) software and regulatory software (RINA STR-DIP; Hullscant) would be an advantage

* Hands on Composites manufacturing experience is advantageous

* Results oriented approach with good analytical, team leadership and organisational skills

* Recognition of and understanding of the luxury goods, luxury yacht market and client base from a practical perspective
