Senior Test Engineer

Middlesex

Senior Test Engineer needed for a globally established Aerospace company based in Middlesex. They're looking to employ an experienced Senior Test Engineer who can support the Test Design function to make sure both project and statutory requirements are met and to improve the effectiveness of the Test Design function within the company.

The candidate must be willing to travel to Cambridgeshire on a regular basis during the first six months (up to twice a week). This will reduce to once a fortnight as the candidate settles into the role.

Some of the main duties of the Senior Test Engineer will include:

* Support and maintain all test equipment within the manufacturing organisation

* Effectively support the engineering manager as required, to support bids and projects

* To competently resolve technical problems associated with assigned products

* Strive to continuously improve the processes and procedures for which they are responsible for

* To support the preparation and updating of project plans for assigned projects

* To help ensure engineering activity is carried out in accordance with engineering procedures

* Ensure adequate constructive challenge is presented in design reviews to identify and help mitigate any key issues

* Help to build and maintain excellent internal and external customer relationships

* Responsible for assisting project leaders to deliver, attending project review meetings as required

* Prepare reports where required for internal and external use

* Perform technical documentation reviews as required

* Prepare and deliver presentations as required

* Keep up to date with new developments within the market place to ensure the company remains at the cutting edge

* Assist with review and update of engineering procedures

* Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures to ensure accreditation requirements are consistently met

What you need to be the successful Senior Test Engineer:

In order to be the successful Senior Test Engineer and have a chance to gain such an exciting opportunity you will ideally need to have the following:

* Good experience of test engineering and test equipment design in aerospace

* Conversant with test equipment design, analysis, and test techniques for complex electronic systems

* Conversant with appropriate standards and processes within area

* Sound analytical and problem solving skills

* Able to suggest and applying practical and economic solutions to any problems encountered

* Able to communicate succinctly and accurately on most technical issues and schemes with internal and external customers and the team

* Good communication skills both verbally and in writing

* Proactively able to manage own work in order to achieve objectives

* Uses own initiative and makes timely decisions within the scope of the role and is financially aware of the consequences of decisions

* Works effectively with others

* Good application of Microsoft packages and relevant software for the role

Exposure and experience with most of the following is required:

* Test equipment design (automated and manual)

* Analogue & Digital interface circuit design

* Mechanical aspects of electronic design

* Electrical wiring

* ATE racks grounding

* ATE racks thermal management

* Power supplies specifications and operation

* EMI/Lightning filtering and signal protection techniques

* PXI/PCI test equipment technology

* Instrument control methods (GPIB, RS232, USB, Ethernet)

* Software development (C, LabView, TestStand, HTBasic, CVI)

* Embedded software development

* PC/Windows literacy

Desirable

* Be familiar with the responsibilities of acting as a Compliance Verification Engineer

* Be able and willing to participate and organise product investigations resulting from aircraft incidents

* Familiarity with aerospace environmental issues (DO160)

* Be familiar with the manufacturing techniques used for aerospace electronics
