HR Policy Officer (Education) / Human Resources Policy Adviser

Leicester
£30,376 to £33,698 per annum + Generous Pension Scheme
Full-time, 6 months fixed term contract

ASCL, the leading professional association for school and college leaders invites applications for an Education HR Policy Officer to join their team in Leicester. The post-holder will negotiate with employers, through the policy consultation process, with a view to ensuring that ASCL members, as employees, enjoy the most favourable benefits, terms and working conditions.

This is an exciting opportunity to occupy a role in the profession at a time of considerable change. The post-holder will be part of a small team of committed and expert policy makers who work together to help to protect and promote the interests of ASCL members and create fairness and equality at work.

The post-holder will need to have a good understanding of a wide range of HR policies, ideally, but not essentially, within an education setting, and how they are applied to employees. They will be required to understand how proposed changes to policies may impact on our members’ terms and conditions and to respond to consultations with feedback that ensures that not only do our members not suffer any detriment but that there is an improvement to their working conditions.  As we are involved in a significant number of policy consultations each week, the post-holder will need to be personally resilient and be prepared for a high level of paper/computer-based work.

The successful candidate must also hold a Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development level five diploma or equivalent.
