MV (Electrical) Test Engineer - Luton/Bedford
My client is a MV Switchgear & Controls business that employs a number of talented and diverse engineering staff. Based in Bedfordshire they employ MV Test engineers, MV SERVICE engineers and MV COMMISSIONING engineers in the Midlands and North England. The current requirement is for 2 Medium Voltage Electrical Test Engineers.
Responsibilities for the Medium Voltage (MV) Test Engineer include:
* Fully test and inspect MV Control Panels
* Demonstrate switchboard functionality
* Complete and sign off all test documentation
* Provide engineering with a set of marked up drawings and diagrams incorporating any test modifications
* Ensure that a full set of diagrams are despatched with the equipment
It is essential that you have a minimum of a few years Electrical Test Engineering experience including switchgear knowledge (1KV and above). Motor Control Centre (MCC) experience and control panel or power panel experience . It is likely that you may have be a time served apprentice or have a diploma in Electrical Engineering. You will be required to have some understanding of protection relays, protection schemes and be able to read engineering drawings. You may have been exposed to a wide variety of electrical equipment including Micom relays, Sepan relays, vacuum circuit breakers, G59 testing, substations & switch rooms, primary & secondary current injection, Megger and pressure testing.
It would be advantageous (but not essential) if you also possess knowledge of the following: GE/ABB/Rockwell protection relays, MV drives (Siemens/Rockwell/ ABB), local isolator panels, distribution switchgear (Hawker Siddeley/Siemens/Schneider) and ring main units. SAP (Senior Authorised Person) would also be useful in the MV Service Engineer role.
The role is based in a Bedfordshire head office which is commutable from Luton, Bedford, Milton Keynes, Stevenage, Leighton Buzzard, Hemel Hempstead, Hitchin, Flitwick and Northampton.
