Community Liaison Officer

Full-Time

Fixed Term April 2019 – 31 March 2021

The National Space Centre is looking to recruit a Community Liaison Officer to develop, coordinate, and deliver a new community engagement programme in Leicester to engage local families and young people with space science, and break down barriers to engagement with the National Space Centre.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced individual to build relationships with local groups and the Leicester City Council Neighbourhood Services team in order to reduce barriers to engagement and create tailor-made programmes to inspire people from a range of backgrounds.  This role will work alongside our Space Communications public engagement team.

You should have experience in leading and developing activities and events for local Leicester communities, including working across sectors and with multiple agencies.  Experience in project management, and in coordinating of a team of staff or volunteers is essential, as is your experience of involving and engaging communities in the planning and delivery of services.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual with excellent people skills who can forge strong relationships and lead new programmes.  You do not need to be a science expert, but enthusiasm for space and science is a bonus.
