The Team

The Real Estate Division is one of Addleshaw Goddard's largest, comprising a team in excess of 200. Within the Leeds office, the mainstream Real Estate team currently comprises of six partners and over 30 other fee earners.

Last year the team were crowned in the 'Commercial Property' category at the Yorkshire Legal Awards 2017 and are again shortlisted this year. This recognises their work on advising on a series of ground-breaking deals that have played a key role in reshaping the Yorkshire skyline. 2018 has seen the team be shortlisted in the Legal Team of the Year category at this year's EG Awards and Property Law Firm of the Year by the Yorkshire Property Industry Awards. The team were also a finalist at The Lawyer Awards for Real Estate Team of the Year. These give a small insight into the string of accolades that the team have chalked up this year.

The Role

We are looking for to grow the team and are therefore keen to recruit an experienced Real Estate Lawyer to work on a variety of commercial property work. The team advise on matters relating to landlord and tenant, property management, sales and purchases to a number of the firms key clients, advising on high profile office, retail, leisure, development and regeneration schemes throughout the UK.

You will manage your own workload as well as supporting partners on large and complex matters. At this stage in your career you may have developed a specialism in a particular area of commercial property and we will encourage you to develop that further. You will also maintain some broader work to provide variety to your work and flexibility for the team.

As a Managing Associate you will play a role in helping the team develop and build relationships with new and existing clients through business development initiatives. Internally you will play a key part in shaping and driving the development of the team, including the supervision of junior members, and there will be plenty of opportunity for you to take on additional responsibility and advance your career.

Knowledge, skills and experience required

Excellent academic achievement with a minimum 2:1 degree
A minimum of 5 years of post qualification experience gained within a comparable environment and at an appropriate level
Excellent knowledge of commercial property and related law
Experience of taking responsibility for running some aspects of property transactions
A proven record of a high standard of client care for existing clients
The ability to fit quickly into a team-based environment and experience of delegating to, and working with, trainees and junior associates.
