Administrator / Clerk

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Apex Chambers for a Barrister’s Clerk. Apex Chambers is a criminal set of Chambers based on Cathedral Road in Cardiff.

We are looking to recruit a criminal clerk to carry out general administrative duties to include the operation of various cloud based document management systems and a chambers management system for the collection and distribution of both electronic and paper material. You will be required to respond to incoming emails and telephone calls in relation to clerking enquiries and work closely with the local courts, barristers and other agencies in order to manage cases through the court process.

The role is full time and permanent. 

Working hours are 9am - 5.30 pm.

25 days a year holiday

Salary is £24 - £28k depending on experience.

The role is based in Chambers but you may be expected to attend other locations occasionally. There is often a vibrant atmosphere around chambers and the work may be pressurised at certain times.

Work Experience

Ideally you will need some experience of working within the legal profession or a busy office environment, however full training will be given. Personality and a good work ethic are more important qualities.

Skills you will need:

  • Strong face to face communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with clients, barristers, solicitors and court officials.
