Role description

The Enterprise & SHP Control Room will manage the Operations & Maintenance of Slough Heat & Power as well as Private User HV/EHV networks across the UK. As part of the control room team you will be responsible for the networks safe operation and operational planning, while also contribute to the investment program to improve the heath index and network safety and deliver the growth strategy for the network.

You will have line management responsibilities for a team of Control & Operational Planning Engineers and Cartographers, and provide support and guidance as required. You will lead the operation of the Slough Heat & Power Control Room, operational planning, network monitoring, running and switching operations as required for the existing network and its development plans.

You will have decision making responsibility as the control authority on the SHP network and other networks managed via the control room. You will have overall responsibility for the safe operation of the network while also contributing to the investment program to improve the health index and network safety and deliver the growth strategy for the network.

Your Skills and Experience

You will be an experienced Control Engineer and Senior Authorised Person (SAP) with significant operational experience in a control room and in the field. Ideally you will have previous leadership and management experience.

You will have excellent knowledge of electrical power operation of EHV, HV and LV networks and associated assets and of electrical power industry regulatory standards for Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and the Distribution Code.

You will have experience with network control room software and SCADA systems, power system modelling, analysis and be able to clearly communicate results to stakeholders. A degree in Electrical Engineering is advantageous.
