Our client is a leading FMCG retail business, and they are seeking an Assistant Supply Chain Manager to join their busy department in the Hounslow area of London.

Reporting into the Inventory and Planning Manager, the Assistant Supply Chain Manager will assist with delivering excellent customer service through timely product availability and clear communication. Supply Chain plays a key role in customer retention which is at the heart of the company's sales strategy. The Supply Chain Management department's objectives are to find the right balance between customer satisfaction and retention and the need to protect the company from the high financial risks inherent to the nature of the business. The Assistant Supply Chain Manager will be working in a large distribution hub in the Hounslow area, and as such this is a busy and rewarding role.Main Roles & Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities

* Ensuring the company's inventory is kept to a minimum whilst ensuring the client does not have any out of stocks

* Assisting with the co-ordination of a complex supply chain operation where the client, source and logistics operations are often in different countries

* Monitoring a fast-moving and time-sensitive inventory on a weekly basis

* Interacting with European, Asian and American colleagues on a daily basis

Other Responsibilities

* Managing day to day requirements of program teams, raising documentation to suppliers for orders and call-offs

* Working closely with Logistics Team to arrange timely collection of product from suppliers and delivery to the warehouse or direct to client

* Monitor proposals coming in from Sales team, providing information on available inventory and program break dates

* Building relationships with suppliers and colleagues so as to be the best position to manage their expectations or negotiate alternative solutions

* Communicating clearly the key decision dates and deadlines of the programmes and ensuring they are understood and complied with through regular follow up

* Managing returns process with program management, logistics and dedicated returns repack centre

* Produce standard and ad-hoc reports to support department objectives and processes

* Carry out projects as directed by Inventory and Planning Manager to support department objectives

Key Performance Indicators

* Minimizing the company's holding of inventory whilst minimizing Client out of stocks

* Ensuring that inventory information is uniform and timely in terms of availability, product website, inventory newsletters and most importantly, pricing

* Protecting the Company's cash flow by establishing an open and constant dialogue with the Project Manager and Logistics Manager to ensure that stock is shipped to the client and invoiced as quickly as possible (meaning we do not hold stock in a local warehouse for more than four weeks)

* Ensuring that all returns are repacked and ready for sales within two month of the programme ending

* Maximizing the window of opportunity by educating the relevant Programme Manager regarding their product on a timely basis

* Ensuring that most spreadsheet/reporting is done using the supply chain database and applications (Athena and data cube reporting)

* Building solid, mutually respectful and advantageous relationship with both internal colleagues and external suppliers

In return the business will offer a generous base salary of up to GBP30,000, plus an annual 10% bonus, company pension, and KPI and incentive schemes.
