Your new role
A fantastic opportunity for experienced Operational Trainers has become available to work for the Home Office, based in either Folkestone, Gatwick, Manchester or Heathrow, there are multiple vacancies available
As the Operational Trainer you will be responsible for delivering operational learning to Border Force Officers, equipping them with both the theoretical knowledge, and practical skills required to work in a law enforcement environment. Courses are delivered to new recruits, established staff and contingency personnel of all grades, and includes both civil and criminal law, along with Immigration and Customs regulations, procedures and policies.

What you'll do day-to-day
- Plan, prepare and deliver technical operational learning programmes in line with legislation, policy, procedures and assurance compliance using a range of delivery techniques.
- Assess and evaluate delegate performance, providing regular, accurate and unbiased feedback verbally and in writing to support their learning and continued development.
- Develop trainer skills through continuous professional development (CPD)
- Provide coaching support to delegates whilst in the learning environment to ensure they reach the required standard of competence.
- Respond quickly and professionally to changing business priorities resulting in material and scheduling changes.
Skills Required
Essential
- Experience of frontline operational learning delivery in the last 3 years. This can include experience in law enforcement (Policing), large operational Civil Service Departments such as HMRC/DWP or private sector companies that require high levels of operational knowledge such as production or engineering.
- Learning and Development experience as a trained trainer (internal or external programmes) as your current or a recent role.
Desirable
- A recognised qualification in Learning and Development to a minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
- Membership of a learning and development organisation eg CIPD

Closing/interview dates and location
The closing date for applications is 10/03/2019.
Assessments are scheduled to take place w/c 29th April for southern locations and from 8th May for northern locations.

Fixed Term for 2 years
Hours/Working pattern
Training is delivered in a Monday to Friday working pattern. The successful applicant will be expected to adopt this same working practice. Given the reactive nature of operational learning delivery and it's ever changing business priorities, flexibility will be important to this role. Some out of hours travel may be required including Sundays.
Full-time 37 hours per week. part time is available with a requirement of a minimum of 28 hours and 4 days per week. Job share is also possible.
