We offer a great opportunity for an experienced Transport Planner to join the friendly team of a well-known, and well established, organisation in Horncastle who are Europe’s largest manufacturers of plastic piping products. Reporting directly to the Logistics Manager you will be one of three Transport Planners responsible for dealing with own account and sub-contractors as well as a team of 40 drivers. You will be a “hands on” Transport Planner / Transport Co-ordinator, love the buzz of working in busy office and dealing with all transport situations. As an experienced Transport Planner you will have excellent knowledge of UK roads and routes, ensuring the safe and timely delivery of orders with the highest level of customer service. If you are a passionate Transport Planner you will enjoy being part of the development team of this exciting company, contributing to their continued growth in a proficient and professional manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Delivery planning using own account vehicles and sub-contractors
  • Develop potential solutions to problem, e.g. congestion (both on and off site)
  • Liaise with other departments regarding stock requirements
  • Brief and de-brief drivers
  • Preparation of delivery documentation
  • Create and issue transport reports, including making presentations about proposed transportation options
  • Analyse and interpret date
  • Design research methods and survey techniques
  • Prepare reports and publications
  • Design research methods and survey techniques+
  • Acting as an expert witness during public enquiries
  • Work to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal customers
  • Manage returns and collections as and when required
  • Keep abreast of all government changes to transport and planning policies

 

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

 

  • Previous proven experience of load planning in a busy transport office
  • Excellent UK geographical knowledge (roads and routes)
  • Transport Manager CPC, desirable, not essential
  • Good standard of PC literacy and analytical skills
  • Awareness of planning programmes (DIP/Paragon) advantageous
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Knowledge of driver’s hours (tachograph)
  • Good Problem solving skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills, good team player
