Field Service Technician

SO1, GBP31,434 - GBP32,577pa (effective from 1st April 2019)

Work Hours: 36 Hours per Week

Hackney Council are looking for a Field Service Technician to join our parking team. This is an entry level role into an important area for the borough. Our parking controls help make sure everyone who lives, works and visits Hackney can travel easily and safely.

Our team of Field Service Technicians install and maintain signs, pay and display machines and suspend and reinstate parking bays. They also supervise contractors working on road marking throughout the borough. There are various pieces of legislation and health and safety guidelines which set out how the work must be carried out.

Your work will involve using IT systems to log reports on maintenance issues. You will also map repairs for contractors and colleagues within the Council. You will do road surveys, help create parking schemes and check data to help us manage Hackney's parking.

You need to have a full UK drivers' license - we will provide a Council vehicle for you to use while working. You need to be IT literate and will be using a hand held device to report and log issues. You must have a can do attitude, enjoy problem solving and be flexible and willing to take on a variety of tasks. Ideally you will have worked in a similar environment be technically minded and have some understanding of pay and display machine workings. This is outside work. You will sometimes need to climb ladders and do manual handling.
