Commercial Gas Engineer – In-House Maintenance 
Tiverton, Devon

We are now looking for a Commercial Gas Engineer to join our in-house maintenance team and support the running of our historic buildings.

This is the ideal role for a highly qualified gas and plumbing engineer with experience of maintenance and installation within old buildings to take on a fresh challenge as part of the in-house team with our leading school. 

This rare role will see you working in our buildings, some of which date back to Victorian times, and providing great services right across the school. We will financially support you through your ongoing commercial gas training and offer overtime payments for any out-of-hours work. 

What’s more, whenever our dining hall is open during term time and holidays, you will find a free meal waiting for you that has been freshly cooked on-site. 

Your Role 

As a Commercial Gas Engineer, you will join the school maintenance team and test, service and repair all gas and plumbing-related equipment, boilers and appliances throughout the school. 

Blundell’s dates back to 1604 with some of our buildings continually in use since 1882. As such, we have a permanent maintenance team in place to ensure our infrastructure is up-to-date and functional. 

Your role will involve: 

- General plumbing maintenance 
- Installation projects 
- Maintaining plumbing heating and hot water systems and services 
- Preventative and reactive maintenance 
- Project managing internal works and contractors 
- Training and mentoring junior staff as required 
- Planning and budgeting minor works projects 

About You 

To be considered as a Commercial Gas Engineer, you will need experience of maintenance and installation works within old buildings. 

You will also need the following qualifications: 

- NVQ2 in plumbing 
- COCN1 – Core commercial gas safety or CODC1 - Change over Core Gas Safety Domestic to Commercial 
- TPCP1A - Testing & Purging Pipework up to 6" (150mm) 
- TPCP1 - Testing & Purging Pipework over 6" (150mm) 
- ICPN1 - Installation of Pipework in excess of 35mm 
- CIGA1 – Indirect Gas Fired Appliances and Warm Air Heaters 
- CDGA1 - Direct Fired Commercial Appliances
