SWIMMING TEACHER

Start Date:  To commence after Easter 2019

Salary: The rate of pay will be NJC SCP 9 (April 2019). Actual salary from 1 April 2019 is £8142 per annum. Plus pro-rata SEN allowance of £766 per annum

Hours: 22 per week. Term time, 39 weeks per year.

Contract type: Temporary in the first instance (depending on external funding)  

The Royal School, for the Blind offers educational placements for children with visual impairments/sensory needs and moderate to severe learning disabilities, ranging in ages from 2 to 19 years. Placements at the school are for both day and residential children. It is the aim of the School to provide the highest educational and care opportunities for all our children. Both the school and residential provisions have had outstanding OFSTED inspections.

We are seeking to appoint a Level 2 qualified swimming teacher to teach at our onsite pool which has been purpose built to accommodate the needs of our pupils. You will be required to develop and implement structured session plans, centred on the needs of the individual pupil, whilst at the same time creating a positive and fun environment for all.  You will also be required to complete individual progress records. 

You must hold a level 2 swimming qualification and have experience of instructing SEN children/young people particularly with visual impairments/sensory needs and moderate to severe learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral difficulties. You must be able to assess pupils’ ability and adjust instruction appropriately. Importantly we are looking for someone with a caring, warm nature, be outgoing, and non-judgmental. The ability to work with other members of the team is also essential.
