Navision Application Analyst

Overview

RSSB is an expert body that helps the rail industry collaborate to continuously improve and meet future challenges. It spans the whole railway, including in its membership infrastructure companies, train and freight operators, rolling stock owners and suppliers to the industry. RSSB supports rail in the areas of safety, standards, knowledge, innovation and a wide range of cross-industry schemes.

The Role

RSSB have embarked in recent months on a major program to upgrade their internal systems. Central to this has been the implementation of a Navision 2017 ERP system. Whilst the system has been supported by the delivery partner and onsite contract resource there is now a need to increase the application support function within the enterprise systems team with a focus on the ability to provide day-to-day support for the finance team and the business in the operation of this key system.

The role will also have support responsibility for the wider application estate but will hold central responsibility for the Navision ERP system. A Move to Business Central is envisaged and planned within the immediate future and this post will play a key part in delivering and supporting this transition.

Responsibilities

• Lead BAU activities and the technical implementation of further phases of project delivery of the Navision ERP system
• Solely responsible for advising the finance on all aspects of the Navision ERP system. This includes influencing and communicating effectively any changes and upgrades to the system throughout the team including senior stakeholders
• Lead, support and assist internal users ensuring cross-company understanding and successful embedding of the Navision ERP system
• Sole point of contact / liaison between the supplier and users to manage all system and operation issues
• Key advisor to the RSSB finance team on all aspects of Navision- Responsible for managing stakeholder communication across the business and lead all project / BAU requests that arise from creation to completion
• To quickly gain an understanding of the functional areas within the organisation and an appreciation of the nature of the industry

To act as a support resource for the wider RSSB application estate to include;

• Dynamics 365 SharePoint intranet Office 365 MS Flow MS Forms Teams One Note One Drive Project Online SharePoint online Collaboration Tools Various other key business applications
• Lead on all tasks associated with managing change control for internal enterprise systems and ensure due process is followed and upgrades or changes are delivered in a controlled and effective manner.
• To co-operate with the internal operations team to manage day to day aspects of all internal enterprise systems.
• To manage issues within the internal RSSB helpdesk system and be responsible for managing the timely resolution of these and communication with the business at all levels of seniority.
• Enable further development and benefits realisation within the existing and future application estate through personal development and keeping up to date with technology and industry.
• Become Subject Matter Expert (SME) for various technical aspects of application delivery
• Where required - be the technical lead of projects that implement additional functionality to existing systems or new additions to the estate.

• Significant experience of directly supporting Navision ERP in an application support role
• Core financial processes (Purchase Orders, Invoicing, sales invoicing etc)
• Key configuration and set up data (Dimension Values, Resources)

• Time sheeting

• Basic Financial accounting fundamentals
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to interact with a diverse user community conversing in non-technical across all seniority levels of the business with language to enable understanding between the technical and business functions

• Demonstrable ability to mix both project delivery and technical implementation/configuration/development skills.
• Wide experience of the Microsoft Technology Stack
