We are seeking applications for the post of Production Shift Manager within a busy production facility in Fife. You will be required to provide operational management and, through good leadership, create a culture of good manufacturing practices and continuous improvement. You will coordinate and give direction to the daily activities carried out on shift. A forward thinker, you will effectively manage the longer term needs of the department and demonstrate a fundamental understanding of key organisational objectives.

You will be supported by and line manage Team Leaders to ensure the smooth operation of each shift through effective management and deployment of production and machine operative personnel.

Your ability to liaise with colleagues at all levels is essential so strong communication skills must be demonstrated. Health & Safety will be high on your list of priorities, you will be ready to maintain Quality standards and will provide a solid understanding of KPI's in a commercial environment.

Liaise with Team Leaders and Planning to co-ordinate production targets and deadlines.

Measure, evaluate and report departmental performance against agreed company objectives.

Monitor production progress to ensure that it is compliant with outloading times.

Implement effective cross-functional communication channels to maximise the efficiency of the Production Department.

Continually challenge existing practices in order to improve labour costs, product quality and yields.

Represent and on occasion chair the daily stock meetings.

Ensure that appropriate staffing levels are present across all areas of the department.

Take responsibility for the quality of the product being produced by the department.

Represent the department at various meetings such as Health & Safety, Audit HACCP, and Workers Committee. Be responsible for the implementation of any actions.

Responsible for the implementation of HACCP, Health & Safety and Hygiene procedures

Co-ordinate and manage the departments Health & Safety practices paying particular attention to risk assessment, accident prevention and continuous improvement

Ensure that effective reporting structures are in place and that accurate and relevant information is provided to all teams and senior management

Focus the whole Production team on the company's hygiene standards and achieve individual ownership of hygiene practices.

Provide accurate data and statistical figures, ensuring that all requested reports are compiled in a legible and timely manner.

Carry out performance appraisals for all direct reports within the relevant timescales.

Identify skills gaps, training and development needs through the effective use of continual assessment.

Liaise with HR/Training team to resolve any skills gaps or training needs.

Manage the people processes within the production area, ensuring that all company procedures are followed accurately i.e. disciplinary and grievance and attendance
