Roles & Responsibilities:
• To assess the requirements of the tender, to ensure all the information received from the customer is read thoroughly so that we meet all requirements.
• To determine flue routes from information within the tender
• To determine the correct appliances proposed. Once we have the proposed appliance details I am to carefully read the appliance literature to ensure that we are compliant with the manufacturer's recommendations. The literature will contain all the characteristics of the appliance to allow me to carry out a flue sizing calculation to determine the required flue size. In some cases we are unable to size a system and have to base our price on diameters given, excluding any design responsibility.
• To size the required flue / exhaust systems to determine the appropriate diameters required and save the sizing calculation in the relevant place
• To determine the correct product to be proposed, either from our knowledge or from specification
• Once the flue sizing calculation is carried out and we know what sizes we are working with we can begin to break down the job into the components required, in the first instance this is done on paper. This will usually be done against a scaled drawing, a site survey/measure giving the required dimensions or a list of components provided to us.
• To manually input the components in to the estimating package which contains all the prices. This is where we can select the insulation thicknesses, flue products & mark ups. To ensure nothing is missed, I check what has been entered against the written breakdown.
• To send out for any external costs such as support structures, flue dilutions, fans, silencers.
• To add any additional costs that may be required
• To assess the required install requirements and allocate the required days to the cost
• To assess the required delivery requirements and apply to the cost
• To assess the required site survey and apply to the cost
• To apply the relevant commissions / retentions to the cost
• To find the total cost required for the flues to be shown on quotation and save it in the relevant place
• To select the relevant quote template to assist me in typing up our quotation to the customer, this will cover the product used, a description of the route, the prices, inclusions, exclusions, and any notes covering ourselves.
• To pass the quote to CB (if available) for checking
• To issue final quotation to the customer and relevant sales person and save in the relevant place
• To store the paper based file in the filing cabinets. An electronic job file is also made up for each project containing all the information used to create the quote.
• To revise previously issued quotations as and when required
• To log details on diary spreadsheet
• To deal with telephone calls from customers in a professional manner
• To provide flue sizing / costing support to other departments when required
• To complete the diary entry by entering the customer, job status, area code, estimator's initials, the customer's name & the quoted price
