This is an exciting time to join our Business & Industry divison, on the back of year on year dramatic increase in sales & retention, we are seeking an experienced Business Development Director to further drive the profitability of our business unit through new sales generations, retention projects and business growth.

This role will be targeting multi-million-pound facilities management opportunities, in line with strategic goals, both individually and through a team of Business Development Managers & Bid Management teams nationally.

You will develop and drive the new business sales strategy and give strategic leadership to the sales team regarding winning new business.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Seeking out major clients and forming working relationships with the premier buyers in the Facilities Management industry
  • Overseeing and managing a team of Business Development Managers (BDMs) and bid support teams, typically disbursed spanning a wide geographical area
  • Identifying and focusing on our key sectors (legal and professional, manufacturing, non-retail banking)
  • Accurately forecasting future sales and forming sales plans to adapt to constant shifts in the marketplace
  • Serving as a business representative at major industry events, conferences, trade shows, and expositions
  • Maximising company profit
  • Forming sales strategies to keep your company competitive and innovative
  • Demonstrating skills in building relationships at the highest level with prospects far in advance of any tenders
  • Having the ability to understand how marketing can be used to enhance their win rate
  • Being an experienced member and an ambassador in the sales organisation using technology and CRM systems (salesforce)
  • Leading and creating a high performing sales team

Experience required:

Education/Qualifications

  • Degree level qualification
  • MBA or equivalent is desirable
  • Project management qualifications i.e. Prince 2 - Desirable

Working experience/Personal attributes

  • Demonstrable Director level experience in related sales, marketing, and/or Business Development within the Facility Management, Cleaning, and Security (manned guarding) industry
  • Experience on major tenders and bids GBP1m-GBP10m. Not public sector
  • Experience of and ability to manage a sales team
  • Proven in strategic solution selling not transactional sales experience
  • Demonstrable success of leading multiple large sales opportunities at once (GBP1m plus projects)
  • Demonstrable relationships with blue chip clients
  • Management of multiple stakeholder relationships, including operations, finance up to and including Board Level
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to deliver results with multiple and complex projects
  • Previous experience of Leading a function, and developing strategies to enable high performance and success
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement (both self-development and function development)
  • Excellent communicator; written and verbal
  • Influencing and negotiation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills. Must be charismatic and have the ability to engage during prospect and client presentations
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team-oriented environment
