Runcorn to LKAB Minerals in the UK

LKAB is looking to recruit someone for a busy operations department embarking on an exciting new phase of growth and development. We now require a Works Manager for our Runcorn operations. 

Working with the senior management team to develop business strategy appropriate to business needs.  Ensure measures are in place to verify compliance with the agreed business strategy and identify variances to this strategy.

LKAB is an international industrial minerals group with a leading position in several product applications. We develop mineral solutions in partnership with our customers, supplying natural minerals engineered for functionality and usability. 

LKAB Minerals Ltd sources, processes and supplies industrial minerals to a broad range of industries in the UK and abroad. 

Key Accountabilities

To ensure that all operations activities are conducted in line with country, company and local safety, environment and quality procedures. As Works Manager you will lead by example in terms of safety behavioural standards and managing change.

As Works manager you will promote continuous improvement methodologies, tools and techniques to analyses and identify opportunities, apply root-cause analysis and sustain operational improvements in line with best practice methods

As the Works Manager you will have responsibility for all safety standards on site. This includes driving continuous risk reduction through prioritized improvements, including all behavioural safety and culture change.  This is centered on a passionate belief that all injuries are preventable, and our objective is to be lost time accident free across all LKAB Minerals Ltd activity.

Works Manager Role:

  • Planning, organising, directing and running optimum day to day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations.
  • Increasing production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and driving safety and quality standards.
  • Responsibility for Health Safety & Wellbeing of everyone employed or visiting the site production output & quality and on-time shipping.

Job Duties:

The Works Manager will safely oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. The ideal candidate will build and develop upon these processes to maximise stewardship, safety, quality and productivity.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organise, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations.
  • Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current safety and quality standards.
  • Be responsible for production output, product quality and the safety and wellbeing of all employees and visitors to site.
  • Manage the supply chain to allocate resources effectively and fully utilise assets to produce optimal results.
  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.
  • Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions.
  • Lead by example in developing professional working relationships and responsibility to recruit, manage and develop plant staff in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Collect analyses data to find and reduce wastage and inefficiencies.
  • Commit to all company safety policies and procedures and lead by example.
  • Maintain current and develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets and future improvements.
  • Manage and undertake all site related HR requirements.
