We are currently looking for a team leader for our Bengali service in our main office in Bonn, for an initial period of two years beginning April 1, 2019.

Your challenges

  • The editorial planning of Online and TV/Video productions in Bengali
  • Planning and designing interactive program content in social networks
  • Developing new media formats
  • Coordinating and supervising all publications, planning conferences and themes for reporting
  • Communicating team members’ training needs as well as planning shifts and duty rosters
  • Supporting and organizing sales and marketing initiatives for Bengali-language content
  • Representing the Bengali service within and outside Deutsche Welle
  • Planning and delivery of program content about the target region for Deutsche Welle’s central departments in English and German
  • Communicating a comprehensive image of Germany’s social, economic, political and cultural life based on Deutsche Welle’s
    program mandate

Your qualifications

  • A university degree in a relevant discipline, a completed “Volontariat” (traineeship) or comparable qualifications
  • Several years of professional experience in TV or online journalism along with the readiness to learn the ropes in the other areas
  • Thorough knowledge of the political, economic and cultural situation in Germany and Europe
  • Expertise in themes concerning politics, society and culture in Bangladesh and India
  • Excellent knowledge of the media landscape in Bangladesh and India as well as the social networks there
  • Perfect knowledge of the Bengali language
  • Excellent written and spoken command of German and English
  • Capability to motivate and cooperatively lead a team
  • Familiarity with media and related political contexts
  • Capability and desire for the responsible fulfilment of organizational and administrative tasks
