LGIM is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join its London team.

Duties and responsibilities

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • management of Continuous Integration environments;
  • managing tools such as Nexus, Jenkins and SonarQube;
  • handling upgrades and plugins;
  • controlling permissions;
  • optimisation of builds;
  • managing application and development environments across a mixture of physical and cloud based environments;
  • enabling a move towards Continuous Delivery;
  • working with Infrastructure and Development teams;
  • promoting and spreading automation;
  • converging teams on a streamlined set of tools and processes;
  • facilitate technical roadmaps;
  • being involved in upgrade and maintenance work across systems; and
  • resolving technical blockers and liaising with infrastructure teams.

Skills, qualifications and experience

The following are mandatory requirements for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, ideally in the field of Computer Science;
  • current and in-depth knowledge of Amazon’s services including EC2, RDS, EBS, ELB and CloudFormation;
  • relevant experience of containerisation, using Openshift PAAS and the Gluster File System;
  • significant experience of automated software configuration, using Ansible;
  • significant experience of Jenkins, Maven, Nexus and SonarQube within a Continuous Integration & Deployment perspective.
  • strong scripting skills i.e. Bash, Python etc.;
  • relevant RHEL Administration experience;
  • a good understanding of Java / JVM-based applications and their internals;
  • significant knowledge and experience of containerisation & container orchestration using Kubernetes and Openshift PAAS;
  • significant experience of configuring and using Prometheus & Grafana to provide platform monitoring and alerting; and
  • relevant experience with Apache Kafka configuration. Management and monitoring.
