Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer job in Birmingham. 3 shift pattern - Days, afternoons and nights.

You will be working for a market leader in their field. A truly multi-national business who is a major presence in more that 15 countries worldwide. With branches all over the UK, their network is wide and varied which leads to multiple career paths for their employees. They are currently investing heavily in modernisation of processes, equipment and upskilling of the Maintenance team. This has lead to a vacancy for a highly skilled, qualified Maintenance Engineer to join the team at their Birmingham branch.

Your new role
You will effectively maintain the automation and equipment within the branch, ensuring that the automated equipment and systems run to optimum efficiency. Equipment includes rollers, conveyors, packaging machinery, Labellers and PLCs. There will be some pneumatic and hydraulic work. You'll proactively monitor automation and system performance ensuring any issues identified are raised, escalated and captured on CMMS and you'll proactively carry out maintenance and repair works as and when required and supporting a continuous improvement process. You'll ensure that the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is fully utilised in line with company guidelines and all planned maintenance and corrective work is carried out in a timely manner. Upkeep and housekeeping of engineering workshops, stores areas, spares and equipment will also be a key part of your job. You will need to actively participate in any training and development requirements to ensure sufficient competence and capability are attained and maintained. You will manage specified HSE risks on site in line with company policies and procedures and ensure legal compliance in terms of these risks which will include, management of contractors, management of maintenance of specialist plant (HVAC, Generators, Sprinkler systems etc.)

What you'll need to succeed
You will be a qualified Maintenance Engineer who has served an apprenticeship and be electrically biased. You will have a background in an FMCG, Manufacturing or Distribution environment. You are able to follow PPM schedules and be able to deal with unexpected breakdowns on a range of equipment. You are able to demonstrate speed, efficiency and professionalism in your work and you have passion and enthusiasm for your job. Your attitude is the key to your success in this job and your self-motivated, galvanised approach will be crucial. You need to be capable of managing your own workload and making decisions for the good of the business as this could really make a difference and potentially save lives.
